Client: TODD Architects
This project is an outstanding example of award winning UK architecture. Designed by Todd Architects and photographed within its sensitive landscaped setting in South Belfast, the building beautifully integrates with the surrounding mature woodland and the historic Grade II listed Riddel Hall.
Additionally, the photography focused on illustrating how the design carefully responds to its natural terrain. The lecture theatres are set discreetly into the landscape to effectively reduce visual impact. Meanwhile, the building’s linear, triple-height atrium provides carefully controlled natural light, thereby connecting interior spaces with the external environment and enhancing the user experience.
Likewise, Todd Architects’ use of red brick, bronze aluminium, and cast stone harmoniously complements the woodland tones, thus reinforcing its environmental sensitivity. In addition, the design embraces a low-energy, sustainable approach, promoting an ecologically sensitive ethos from the outset.
The project achieved a BREEAM Excellent standard, underscoring its environmental performance.
