The new maternity ward at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast is a state-of-the-art facility designed to serve Northern Ireland’s largest hospital complex. Royal Jubilee Maternity Services (RJMS) delivers over 5,000 babies annually and provides comprehensive maternity care for the Belfast population, within easy reach of two-thirds of Northern Ireland. This project exemplifies the collaborative effort between Isherwood & Ellis, Graham Group, Tetra Tech, and AECOM, delivering a modern, patient-centered healthcare facility.

The imagery captures the hospital’s innovative design: patient areas are arranged around landscaped courtyards, maximizing natural light and providing clear wayfinding throughout the facility. Delivery theatres, birthing rooms, antenatal, and neonatology services are located along the building’s outer perimeter, while ancillary areas sit along a central spine, creating a functional and calming environment for patients and staff.
