Client: Farren Architects

Sperrin House strikes a successful balance between traditional and contemporary, derived from that of vernacular forms local to the Northern Ireland countryside. Designed by Farren Architects, the project combines modern architectural principles with a sensitive response to its natural surroundings. The house integrates seamlessly into the rugged landscape, balancing large glazed elevations with locally sourced stone and timber to create a connection between interior spaces and the stunning external environment.

Photographed across multiple light conditions, the imagery highlights the clarity of form, materiality, and spatial relationships within the residence. Emphasis was placed on capturing the interplay of natural light throughout the interiors, as well as the house’s visual dialogue with its mountain backdrop. Nestling on sloping land the design complimented the neighbouring agricultural buildings that are most at home in their surroundings within this area, the Sperrin Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The design showcases Farren Architects’ thoughtful approach to modern living, blending aesthetic elegance with functional comfort. Sustainability and environmental sensitivity are evident throughout, from energy-efficient materials to careful site integration, reinforcing the project’s commitment to low-impact contemporary architecture.
