This was an absolute fluke. Earlier this year I had been asked to photograph the opening of Robert and Barbara Ellison’s exhibitions in Lisburn – which was incredible. Neil happened to be there as a good friend of both Robert and Barbara, so I asked if he would mind if I shot his portrait.

I had my Profoto B1 with me so quickly set it up in the adjacent hall with a beauty dish – no other lights were used. The space was quite confined but away from everyone else at the exhibition, so he was comfortable and full of chat. The wine certainly helped.
